The Child psychiatric ward of Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital is situated on Boonruangrit road, Amphur Muang, Chiang Mai, 50200 THAILAND. It accommodates 16 patients
Type of service
There are 2 kinds of services : they are In-patient Unit and Out-patient Unit
1.In-patient Unit : in order to admit if necessary
2.Out-patient Unit : 3 kinds of this service
2.1 OPD case
2.2 Day care 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. : to train activity daily life skill
2.3 Day care 1 hour : to train social skills/ communication skills / academic skills and behavior modification
Type of patients who attend this ward
This ward accommodates patients aged 12 down, both male and female who have developmental disorder, psychotic disorder, neurotic disorder and another mental health problem such as : school refusal, conduct disorder, emotional disorder etc.
Ward philosophy
The psychiatric ward believes that:
The patient and relative have ability to take care themselves and rights to get a quality nursing care
The primary nursing model and nursing process assists the nurse in providing continuous quality care in response to physical, mental and spiritual needs of the patients.
Promote co-operation between both patient and service providers in a safe and secure environment to enhance timely intervention and support for the patient and their significant others. To develop a sensitive work environment that instills a professional approach to providing nursing care for the patient appropriately and efficiently for the improvement in their mental health development.
Focusing on the aim of the hospital in service:
1. Organizational strength: The Psychiatric Patient Care Team has a role in guiding the treatment planning.
2. Patient safety: focus on proactive risk management.
3. Services quality: A continuous quality improvement.
4. Personnel health: health promotion throughout all consultations and procedures,
and monitoring of / for any risks and complications that may arise, both preventatively and unforeseen during their course of treatment.

Staff of Child Psychiatric Patient Care Team
To provide efficient treatment it is necessary to have several teams taking care of the patients. The teams consist of :
1.A Psychiatrist who is responsible for mental status examination, diagnosis and medication treatment.
2.A Psychiatric nurse who plan individual nursing program and nursing intervention in order to coordinate the team and deals with other departments.
3.A Psychologist who administers the psychological test, IQ test and group therapy.
4.Social worker whose duty is researching problems from family, office, school, dealing with patients and concerned department providing on economic evaluation and group therapy.
5.An Occupational therapist responsible for activity planning base on the patient abilities while being in hospital, visiting home and group therapy.
6.A Speech therapist who plan individual communication program
7.A teacher who plan individual and group activity and evaluate education

The treatment
The treatment provided for autistic disorder are : medication, behavioral program, educational program and alternative treatment vary depending upon the individual .
Nursing service
We combine treatments together because there are no single effective treatment. Although medication is helpful for management neurotransmitter in brain or biological affect but it has a little useful for learning. So appropriate management is combination of medication, behavioral program, educational program and alternative treatment which is the responsibility of nurse. Tools of nurse are heart, head and hand, so we use humanized care with other effective tools and methods such as visual strategies, picture exchange communication systems, task organizer, behavior modification etc. and integrate with daily activity
Human resource development
1.Encourage register nurses to study in a post graduate in mental health and psychiatric nursing program.
2.Short course training such as motivational interviewing, family therapy and other related staff development courses for better skill development of nursing staff.
3.Uplifting courses such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication systems), Visual strategies, Social Story etc.
4.Present a case study and journal every month
5.Post –update knowledge in the field of mental health and psychiatric nursing twice a week .

ประเภทของผู้ป่วย
หอผู้ป่วยจิตเวช (เด็ก) ให้บริการแก่ผู้ป่วยเด็กและวัยรุ่น ทั้งชายและหญิง ที่มีความบกพร่องของพัฒนาการ (Developmental disorder) อารมณ์ (Emotional disorder) พฤติกรรม (Behavioral disorder) เช่น school refusal, conduct disorder, เป็นต้น โรคทางจิต (Psychotic disorder) โรคประสาท (Neurotic disorder) รวมทั้งปัญหาทางด้านสุขภาพจิตอื่นๆ
ทั้งนี้ โรคที่มารับบริการเป็นอันดับต้นๆของหอผู้ป่วยคือ

ประเภทของการบริการ
การให้บริการของหอผู้ป่วย มีทั้งแบบผู้ป่วยนอกและผู้ป่วยใน โดยแบ่งดังนี
1.ผู้ป่วยใน : รับไว้ในกรณีจำเป็น
2.ผู้ป่วยนอก : แบ่งเป็น 3 ประเภท คือ
2.1 ห้องตรวจจิตเวชเด็กและวัยรุ่น : ให้บริการแบบผู้ป่วยนอก
2.2 บริการกลางวัน 8-16 น. : ให้บริการเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสาร กิจวัตรประจำวัน งานบ้าน งานอาชีพ และปรับพฤติกรรม
2.3 บริการกลางวัน บางช่วงเวลา : ให้บริการเพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสาร ทักษะสังคม การเรียนรู้ด้านวิชาการ และปรับพฤติกรรม กิจวัตรประจำวัน
บุคลากรของหอผู้ป่วย มีทั้งหมด 10 คน ได้แก่

พนักงานการบริการฝีมือ (ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และการแพทย์) 1 คน
