Distinguished Professor Dr. Siriporn Chattipakorn, Head of Neurophysiology Unit, Cardiac Electrophysiology Research and Training Center (CERT CENTER), Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University has received great grace from Somdej Phra Kanittha Krom Somdej Phrathep Ratanarajsuda Siam Boromrajakumari to receive “the Senior Research Scholar” on the research project entitled “Neuropathophysiology and Novel Treatments for the Elderly With Obesity: From Mitochondria to Patients”. The award ceremony was held at Thailand Research Expo 2022 on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Center at Central World, Bangkok. The study has conducted in both animal models and in the patients to answer an unanswered question regarding the pathological changes in the brain occurring in elderly people with or without morbid obesity. This research project has focused on the roles of mitochondrial balance and necroptosis in brain degeneration and dementia.
