Thai-UK Collaboration during our Bangkok Trip on 6-7 March 2024

Our Global Health Researcher Team, led by Assoc. Prof. Chaisiri Angkurawaranon, M.D., Ph.D., the esteemed Head of the Global Health Research Center at the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, was accompanied by two distinguished researchers from the United Kingdom: Prof. Dorothea Nitsch, an expert in Clinical Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and Prof. Rohini Mathur, renowned for her authority in Data Science at Queen Mary University of London.
Joining us from the Global Health Research Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, were Assoc. Prof. Wichuda Jiraporncharoen, M.D., Assist. Prof. Papangkorn Inkaew, Ph.D. (Ph.D. in Computer Science, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, Thailand), Dr. Nutchar Wiwatkunupakarn, M.D., and Dr. Piyachon Aramrat, M.D. Additionally, we were honored to have Mr. Edward Tran, pursuing Management Science & Engineering – Health Systems Modeling & Policy at Stanford University, USA, and a recipient of the Luce Scholar Program; Ms. Kirsty Andresen, a dedicated Ph.D. student from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; and Mr. Wenbo Song, a driven Ph.D. student in the Joint program at Nagasaki University, Japan, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.
During our trip, we participated in insightful meetings. We had the opportunity to meet with the director of the field epidemiology program at the WHO Country office for Thailand, followed by a meeting where the President of the Royal College of Family Medicine graciously joined us. Additionally, we connected with the directors of the Division of NCD Control at the Department of Disease Control and the Office of Primary Care Support at the Office of the Permanent Secretary. We also had a productive session with the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP).
Overall, our trip was fruitful, filled with meaningful discussions and collaborations that will undoubtedly contribute to our shared goals in global health research.
